This program is grant funded by Second Harvest of the Big Bend, and aims to provide familiar, grocery-style shopping with a “healthy nudge” that allows clients to select food based on their individual preferences, health needs and circumstances.
This program includes extended shopping hours, appointments, curbside service, and limited deliveries. These allowances will provide for a more relaxed and personal shopping environment.
The Choice Pantry will also make nutrition education available for clients through cooking demonstrations, taste tests and free recipe cards featuring available fresh produce. Shelf items will introduce shoppers to healthy ideas and cooking tips for good nutrition. Just like in a traditional supermarket, shoppers can decide whether they would like to select the ingredients to recreate these healthy recipes.
Updates, times, and news will be provided on the blog!
This HH program provides nutrition education to families on a budget. The program was piloted during the COVID-19 pandemic as an online program which includes cooking demonstrations, nutrition tips, food budgeting information, and crafts/activities for children 2 and up.
The pilot program was funded by a grant from Cooking Matters. However, HH Staff does provide programming through The Tasty Table for clients of local non-profit organizations.
*No grant funded programs are currently available, however, this service can be designed for your organization and purchased upon request.
Hope Harvest provides a 2.5 day supply of nutritious foods for families with school aged children who otherwise might not have food during weekend breaks from school or summer programs.
Each bag contains items for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, including canned and fresh produce and dairy. All food is provided free of charge. It is our hope that these resources will support the health, behavior, and achievement of every student who participates.
The program is facilitated by limited staff and wonderful volunteers who shop for food, pack and deliver the food bags. The program is funded by a grant from No Kid Hungry.
